    It is no secret that Wolf has made a significant contribution to television through the immensely successful “Law & Order” franchise, which has become an iconic part of American television. The franchises started with the original “Law & Order” series in September 1990.

    The series covers the investigations of criminal cases in New York. The show was famous for its storytelling approach, and real-life incidents inspired all the cases.

    There are more than 13,000 episodes in the “Law & Order” franchise, which makes it the most valuable TV franchise television of all time. The super hit series also have multiple spin-off series.

    • The original “Law & Order” series consists of more than 450 episodes with over 20 seasons.
    • “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (1999-present) – More than 500 episodes with over 23 seasons are included in this spin-off series. The series focused on sexually-based offenses and crimes against children. It is the longest spin-off series in the franchise.
    • “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” (2001-2011) – The series consists of more than 195 episodes with over 10 seasons. It explored criminal investigations from both the perspective of detectives and the perspective of the culprits.
    • “Law & Order: Trial by Jury” (2005 – 2006) – This series consists of 13 episodes with only 1 season.

    Instead of this franchise, Wolf also worked as Executive Producer in the “Chicago” television franchise. The franchise consists of more than 530 episodes. Additionally, Wolf Entertainment also worked with the “FBI” franchise. This franchise consists of 130 episodes.

    He completed his early education at the Saint David’s School, The Gunnery, and Phillips Academy. After that, he graduated in 1969 from the Zeta Psi fraternity.

    Career

    After completing his education, he moved to Los Angeles. In LA, he produced the three screenplays. One of these three was the film “Masquerade” (1988), starring Rob Lowe and Meg Tilly. After that, he started his TV career as a staff writer on “Hill Street Blues”.

    He also got his first Emmy Award nomination on the episode “What Are Friends For?” He wrote the episode as a solo writer. After that, he worked as a writer and co-producer for the third and fourth seasons of the show “Miami Vice.”

    Law & Order

    Dick Wolf’s career-making project was “Law & Order,” which ran from 1990 to 2010. In its heyday, it ranked as one of television’s most successful franchises, sharing the title of longest-running drama show with “Gunsmoke.”

    The show also got the most consecutive Emmy Awards nominations. The franchise also has many spin-off series, including “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “Law & Order: Trial by Jury,” “Law & Order: UK,” and “Law & Order: Los Angeles.”

    However, most of the spin-off series have been canceled. But one series is still streaming. In 2019, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” started, and it is the longest primetime drama with over 500 episodes. Dick works as a writer and executive producer in this series.

    Other Projects

    Wolf also worked in other Tv series in the 90s and 2000s. He worked in the Fox Broadcasting Company Network Tv police drama series  “New York Undercover (1994 to 1998).” He was the co-creator and the executive producer of the series.

    Additionally, he worked on NBC’s courtroom reality series “Crime & Punishment” as a creator and executive producer. In this series, the cases were inspired by real-life incidents. He also worked in the documentary  “When You’re Strange.” Wolf also produced the documentary  “Twin Towers” (2003), which won the Academy Award for Short Documentary.

    The other superhit series is “Chicago Fire,” produced by Wolf. The series started in 2012. It becomes NBC’s No. 2 drama series. The series also has various spin-off series, including “Chicago P.D.,””Chicago Med,” and “Chicago Justice.”

    Additionally, Wolf worked as an executive producer on the drama series “FBI.” In the CBS drama series lead was  “Law & Order” cast members Jeremy Sisto and Alana de la Garza. Wolf also created or developed the “Cold Justice” for TNT in 2020.

    In 2021, Wold produced the NBC series  “LA Fire and Rescue.” Dick Wolf also won various awards for his work in the industry. Here are his most notable awards, Banff Television Festival, NATPE, Anti-Defamation League, Entertainment Industries Council, New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Publicist’s Guild of America, and the Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America.

    Personal Life

    Wolf got married three times and got divorced from three wives. However, he battles with his second wife, Christine Marburg, for 12 years. In 2019, he also gave the divorce to his third wife, Noelle Lippman.

    Wolf Divorce Settlements

    Wolf and Marburg’s divorce was legally settled in 2005. However, she takes a half value of the “Law & Order.” During the negotiation, financial advisors revealed that the “Law & Order” value was about $8 million.

    But, a few months later, Marburg was shocked to read the LA Times that claimed Wolf did a new production deal of $1.6 billion with NBC. So, she did not receive a fair lawsuit. However, his third wife agreed on the settlement of $17.5 million in cash with $2 million each year for the upcoming 8 years.
