The kitchen countertop is the setting for VeggieTales cartoons. Where various veggies and fruits act out their own teleplays. Veggie Tales is a tv show for children. Also it’s a Christian show with a fun and wholesome message. Since the first episode aired, I’ve been a fan of the show. It’s been a few years since I’ve seen the show, but there are some Veggie Tales Characters that stick with you. I picked my favourite veggie tales characters. This will be a fun blog.
Veggie Tales has reminded us all of the importance of being a child of the King. They have taught us about the value of good friends and the danger of greedy pirates. If not for a few of the greatest characters in entertainment history, this would not have been conceivable at all. Here is my list of best Veggie Tales characters.
Table of Contents
Who is Mr. Lunt? Mr. Lunt is the cactus who lives alongside the other Veggie Tales characters on the countertop. (And NO, he is not simply a cactus with a face drawn on it.
His “face” is a small patch of green, leaf-like material that covers the large bump on his head, giving him the appearance of having a small face.) Even though he is a cactus and not a vegetable or fruit, he is still one of the main veggie tales characters.
Mrs. Godfrey is a character appearing in the Veggie Tales franchise. Voiced by Andi Chapman, she was the mother of Junior Asparagus and the sister of Mr. Lunt. She was the wife of Mr.
Lunt and the owner of the Asparagus farm. Where she and her husband ran a veggie delivery service. Also she was a kind woman, who always tried to help others, but she was also a bit forgetful.
Mrs. Godfrey is a motherly, housewife-like character. She always has cookies and milk on hand for her family. And acts as a voice of reason in most circumstances. Often, they encourage her to scold the kids when they do something wrong.
But usually ends up scolding herself for not being a good enough mother. As a result, Mrs. Godfrey always keeps a smile on her face and generally keeps the house running.
X the Owl
X the Owl is the de facto leader of the Veggie Tales crew. As a Veggie Tales character, he is one of the most human-sounding and behaving ones. Also, he is also the only main character a child did not dub his voice.
He is the one who leads the crew in prayer and helps LarryBoy save the day. His character is based on the voice of the late John Ritter. Who played the Dad’s role in the live-action sitcom Three’s Company. X is a parody of the letters X and Z.
He is the inventor of many tools in the series. Such as the Washing-O-Matic, the Lettuce-Phone, and the Reuben-O-Matic. Also he is the guardian of the “treasures of the internet” and is the protector of Bob the Tomato. Owl is an introvert and often seen by himself.
Larry the Cucumber’s heroic persona is LarryBoy. LarryBoy is a superhero Veggie Tales Characters. Who help defend the town of Bumblyburg from being ruled by the evil schemes of his archenemy, the Prickly Pear.
Larry-Boy completely made of fruits and vegetables. And is known for his signature cry of “SPACCCCEEEEEE!” which he shouts whenever he uses his superpowers. He has a special spaceship called the Lunabot.
In addition, he used to travel to Moonbucks, the moon-based coffee shop run by Moondoggie and his wife, Caffeine. Larry-Boy’s full name is Larryboy, the Superhero of Right and Good. He lives in a house with his pet dog, Peanut, and his neighbour Archibald Asparagus. Who are NASA scientist and their next-door neighbour?
LarryBoy’s Dad (voiced by John Maringouin) is the father of LarryBoy and a minor character in VeggieTales. He is a calm, lazy and easy-going man. Though he has made some appearances in the episodes.
His first appearance was in the episode “The Yodeling Veterinarian of the Alps .”But he was unnamed in that episode. Larry-Boy and the Fib from Outer Space!!” was his first starring role. Where John Maringouin voiced him.
Bob the Tomato
Bob the Tomato is the de facto leader of VeggieTales. He is the oldest of the Veggie Tales Characters and often acts as the voice of reason. Bob is the husband of the equally tomato-like Alice.
He is a hard-working middle-class tomato which is the head of the household and the owner of Marzipan’s Market. Bob is a caring father to Junior Asparagus, his son. Mike Nawrocki voices Bob.
He is similar in appearance to the famous Tomato, Beefsteak. Bob’s only rival is Larry the Cucumber, a foil to Bob’s straightforwardness. He is a good friend of both Larry and Mr. Lunt. And usually gets along with Junior Asparagus, although he can be a bit annoyed by his antics. He is a proud Christian, and his catchphrase is “Bob’s your uncle!”
Larryboy’s Mom is a large, purple-skinned woman with long, flowing, blonde hair. Georgia Engel voices her. She is a very good cook and originally wore a pink apron. Mom has a very large torso, and we usually see her face on the top of her torso.
We rarely saw her walking in the series. She is the wife of Larryboy’s father and the mother of Larryboy and his sister, Laura. We often see Mom cooking a meal for the family or baking a cake. She and Larryboy’s father are a very loving couple. Georgia Engel voices her. Her only role in the franchise is to reprimand Larry Jr. for his actions.
Junior Asparagus is a young, green male asparagus. What is the name of one of the Veggie Tales’ most prominent characters?’ Bob the Tomato’s best friend and sidekick, he is also a character in his own right. As a bonus, he’s the show’s youngest protagonist.
And the only one with a family (he is a younger brother to Peter Asparagus and an older brother to Asparagirl). His best friend is Bob the Tomato. He is a frequent performer of songs which sing about his love. And his appreciation for the gifts of life that He has given. His catchphrase is “I love it!”
The character is voiced by Phil Vischer and is based on the character of the same name from the VeggieTales books. Junior Asparagus is the young main male character in VeggieTales. He lives on the countertop of the kitchen of the Big Idea house. Bob the Tomato, Larry the Cucumber, and Petunia the Pumpkin.
He’s always there to lend a helping hand to those he cares about. He is the son of Asparagus but does not know whether the “Asparagus” part of his name is a family name or a vegetable name. Like the other countertop pals, he is in his early 30s.
And loves to play practical jokes and pranks. Especially on his neighbour, Jimmy Gourd (who lives in a gourd on the countertop and is always trying to get rid of Junior and his friends).
Mr. Nezzer is a vegetable Veggie Tales Characters who act as the other vegetables’ manager. Though he is broccoli, his name is a pun on the vegetable “celery,” though he is broccoli. He is a fervent believer in the idea that vegetables might be considered human beings in their own right.
And often lectures his friends about the importance of following one’s dreams. And also the importance of being a vegetarian, which he is. He has a wife named Mrs. Nezzer and a daughter named Laura. Phil Vischer voices him.
He is a bratty, spoiled, rich kid who lives with his doting parents, butler, and maidHe is a greedy, ungrateful child who frequently gets into difficulties as a result of his attitude. His name is a play on the word “nazzer,” a British slang term for an annoying person.
A VeggieTales character, Sweetpea Sue, is an anthropomorphic green carrot. Who first appeared in “The Wonderful World of Autotainment” episode. She is a very cheerful, kind, and helpful girl who is friends with all the other vegetables. She wears a yellow, orange, and white short-sleeved dress with a red bow and orange shoes.
Ashley Olsen voiced Sue. She was one of the Veggie Tales Characters that would always get into trouble. She was always the bad guy who would trick Bob and Larry.
My favourite part about “Sweetpea Sue” was watching her get into all kinds of trouble. My mind wandered to the possibility of her as an actual person. Also i loved hearing her say, “I don’t care,” and then getting into more trouble than she could handle.
King George the Second is the King of the VeggieTales cartoon series. George is a carrot who has a crown and a cape. They often depicted him as a dimwitted, self-absorbed, selfish, and power-hungry individual who enjoys hearing himself talk. The character is a parody of King George III of the United Kingdom, who reigned from 1760 to 1820.
Bucky is the main character on VeggieTales. He is a cucumber who lives with three other anthropomorphic vegetables. His best friend is Larry the Cucumber. Bucky is a young, hopeful, and incredibly optimistic Cucumber.
He is a little naïve at times and is rather impressionable. However, he is always ready to go the extra mile to aid those in need. He has a strong sense of justice and responsibility, a strong will, is a little stubborn, and a good athlete. Bucky is a great singer and dancer and is a bit of a klutz like most of his friends. Also, he has a pet rock named Rocky. Phil Vischer voices Bucky.
Larry the Cucumber
Larry is a cucumber with green stripes on his body and lives in the kitchen. He is fairly naive and is the one to whom the other veggies and fruits tell their problems. He often reacts to situations sarcastically. Mike Nawrocki voices Larry.
He is by far the most trustworthy of the trio and is considered to be Bob the Tomato’s best friend. Larry is a good-natured, all-around nice guy who tends to devise a plan to solve the day’s problem and ask, “Does anyone have a problem with that?”
He is a cucumber which is the best salesman on the countertop. Larry is married to Laura Carrot. He is friends with Junior Asparagus and Pa Grape.
Larry is the lead character in the show and has the important job of explaining the Bible story to the audience. Larry is the voice of reason in the VeggieTales world, and he is the most connected to reality.
He has the most life experience out of all of the characters in Veggie Tales. And his pals know they can count on him to be there for them anytime they have a problem. He always offers sensible advice, which often involves reminding the other veggies of how silly they are being.
Pa Grape is the most mature of the Veggie Tales characters. He is a bearded purple carrot and is voiced by Phil Vischer. Pa Grape is the paternal figure of the group, not only because he is the eldest. But also because he has more worldly experience than the other characters.
He usually wears a blue suit coat, a white shirt, and a red bow tie. This is similar to how Bob the Tomato is the oldest character but appears the most youthful. Pa Grape is married to Mema Grape, and together they have a daughter named Gretchen.
We usually see him as an eccentric and kind of ditzy older man. But he is also very smart, capable, and independent. He is a very skilled painter and musician. Also he is a devoted Christian. Pa Grape has many talents, and he is also a very good cook. He also has a pet goat named Twizzler.
She is a carrot and a supporting character on VeggieTales. Generally she is portrayed as an uptight and bossy carrot. Laura usually wears a purple dress and a purple bow in her hair. She has a strong resemblance to her mother, Lillian Carrot, and her sisters, Lizzie and Lola.
Dr. Seuss’s “Cindy Lou Who” is a strong influence on her appearance. Rachel Butera voices Laura. Laura is the oldest of the Carrot sisters. She’s the complete antithesis of her younger sister Lola. Laura is bossy, mean, and the disciplinarian of the family. On the other hand, Lola, is bubbly and carefree. Laura is the only sister who can drive, and she is the least compassionate of the three.
Madame Blueberry is a blue, anthropomorphic female blueberry who is a recurring character in the VeggieTales animated series. Her real name is “Blueberry” in the 2007 direct-to-video movie.

One of the most popular Veggie Tales characters is Achmetha. She is a spunky, middle-aged, one-legged, red-headed housewife. She is married to the character Bob the Tomato. Her husband is a bit younger than her, and she is also a much better cook.
When she is not in the kitchen cooking, she is usually sitting in front of a TV, reading a trashy romance novel. She is a big fan of soap operas (which is why she is a fan of the TV show “As the Stomach Turns”).
Aside from that, she is the mother of Junior Asparagus. She loves to try to get him to eat vegetables, and when she is not attempting to force him to eat vegetables, she is trying to make him more manly.
Carrot Lady is one of the characters that live on the Veggie Tales kitchen countertop. She is a cheerful, friendly character capable of performing various tasks, from cooking and washing dishes to set up a backyard carnival.
Carrot Lady is best known for her ability to make carrot juice. Which she often gives to her friends in times of need. She is a large orange carrot with a cheerful smile, red hair and matching lipstick. She wears a teal shirt with a pink bow and a white apron. We can usually find carrot Lady in the kitchen, making carrot juice for her friends. Rachel Butera voices her.
Penelope is a female character in the Veggie Tales series. She is a purple hippo who lives on the countertop in Larry the Cucumber’s kitchen. She is a Christian and is often seen with a Bible in one hand and a glass of water in the other.
Penelope is voiced by Phil Vischer’s wife, Lisa Vischer. Penelope has a crush on Larry. We often see the Cucumber flirting with him. She is known to be a little on the short-tempered side. This is often demonstrated by her getting mad at Bob the Tomato and Junior Asparagus for their silly antics.
You can’t help but love Penelope. She has the cutest little voice. And is always trying to help out Bob and Larry with their latest plot to trick their neighbour. Of course, she is a little shy, but that’s why she’s the perfect character to throw a little shyness into the mix.
